Grayson County

Grayson County

God Bless America

Grayson County was founded in 1894 by an attorney general of the Republic of Texas named Peter Wagener Grayson. Originally the area was created as a trading post for Spanish and French colonials along the Red River but quickly grew over time with the expansion of agriculture. The area also was home to an air force base for several decades before it’s conversion to a civilian airport. The county is also the only place in the country “where deer may be hunted with a bow no matter what the season”.

Grayson County average home prices are extremely competitive and cheap in comparison to the rest of the country making it a great place to raise a family or invest in your first home.  The average home price in the area is only $209,00.00 USD. The county is composed of 18 cities so your choices are endless. We recommend checking out Sherman, Van Alstyne, Gunter and Howe. The unemployment rate for the area is lower than the national county average at 5.40%. There are tons of great parks, hiking spots, hunting areas and everything in-between.
